A major 6.1 earthquake shook northern Sumatra, Indonesia, on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 04:34:53 UTC, at a depth of 97.4 km (60.5 mi).  This is the fifth major (>5.9) earthquake to hit in the last week.

 USGS:  A major 6.0 earthquake hit Minahasa, Sulawesi, Indonesia, on Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at 07:52:11 UTC, at a depth of 156.1 km (97 mi).
